This is a reminder that, according to state law - SB167, students in the class of 2026 are required to file a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) before April 15, 2026.
For students going to college, the FAFSA results need to be reported to the financial aid office where the student has been accepted. Scholarships offered through that school and scholarships offered here locally through the Rush County Community Foundation and local organizations will require information from the FAFSA filing.
The process is remarkably simple--use this
https://studentaid.gov/ to get started. If the parent has an ID/login from an older child, that login info will be the same for the parent. We will have a help session with an expert from the Commission of Higher Education here at RCHS on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 2:00-5:30.
If your student is not attending college, rest assured that later this spring (after April 15), we will help with a waiver/opt-out procedure.

In 2024, the IHSAA officially approved Girls' wrestling as a sanctioned sport and RCHS was lucky enough to have two girls that wrestled and attended the sectional meet, seeing one qualify for regionals for the first time in school history. This year the RCHS Athletic Department opened its doors for a Girls' Varsity Wrestling Team, seeing 9 girls take to the mat for its inaugural season. Five of those girls competed on January 2nd in the Sectional meet at Eastern Hancock High School. Junior Kendra Jacobs will return to Regionals again this season, being the first girl in school history to qualify for the IHSAA Regionals back-to-back. She will be joined this year by Freshman Ellie Gettinger, who also qualified in her first year of wrestling here at RCHS. The Lady Lion Grapplers will compete on Saturday January 10th at 9am at Muncie Central High School for a chance to move on to the State Finals. These girls have worked hard to compete and have represented RCHS very well throughout the season. Coach Holly Grizzell would love to see everyone come out and show support this weekend in Muncie! Congratulations!
