Bus Safety Rules and Policies

At the Bus Stop...

  1. Get to the designated bus stop 10 minutes before the bus is due.

  2. Line up quietly in a single file away from the road.

  3. Stay out of the Danger Zone, which is 10 feet around the bus on all sides.

On the Bus...

  1. Use handrails to get on and off the bus.

  2. No food or drinks are to be out or consumed while on the bus.

  3. Never stick your hands, head, or feet out the windows.

  4. Talk quietly and stay seated on the bus.

  5. Keep the aisles clear.

  6. Don’t push, yell, or throw things at the bus stop or on the bus.

  7. No Technology (including phones) is to be out or in use while on the bus, unless instructed by the driver.

  8. Listen to the bus driver.

  9. Our drivers take great pride in transporting RCS students safely.

Remember: Riding the bus is a Privilege.

We are Hiring!

Below, you will find all the necessary documents to apply to become a bus driver for Rush County Schools. Please take a copy of the Physical Fitness Certificate and the Medical Examination Report to your primary care doctor for your CDL physical. Copies of these documents will be available at the Transportation Office if you cannot access a printer!
